Speech of Insects in New Zealand

First of all, there are many insects in New Zealand. Among of all insects, I focus on “Sandfly”. Anyway, people generally call the insect “Sandfly”. To tell the truth, the name is officially “Blackfly”. There are 13 species in New Zealand, two of which bite humans. The others prefer biting such as penguins, bats, and seals. They locate their prey through sight and smell and it is only female “Sandfly” bites. They need blood to produce their eggs. So, they use their jaws to stab the skin a pool of blood is created, this is lapped up with their tongue. Their saliva contain an anticoagulant that causes the irritation to our skin. So, it sounds like mosquitoes.

Now, I’ll introduce some simple things we can do to avoid the tiny itchy bites.
1.Cover your skin 2.Always wear a hat 3.Cover yourself in “Botanica”, “Botanica” means this is the best “Sandfly” repellent as it has natural ingredients and does not contain the Deet chemical. 4.Put “Botanica” on your hat 5.Take your “vitamin B” 6.Eat Marmite or Vegemite 7.Avoid wearing dark colors Lastly, what was worse, there are “Sandfly” in Japan too. The insect’s name is “Buyu” in Japanese. So, please take care.

About Insects in New Zealand

Attention:Can you make up your mind to read this Blog and see pictures??

This Web Site is useful because you can distinguish the difference between Mosquitoes and Sand Flies among others.
These are pictures or Web site about "Huhu grub" , "Sandfly" and "other insects".

Anyway, people generally call the insect "Sandfly". To tell the truth, the name is officially"Blackfly".
Blackflies of two races and thirteen kinds, New Zealand Blackfly and Westcoast Blackfly live in New Zealand. This map is nuisance map in New Zealand. Moreover, there is a place that named " SANDFLY POINT" in MILFORD TRACK. The origin of this point, "Sandfly" refers to the common name of a flying, biting, blood-sucking insect found in abundance in Fiordland. This is not closely related...

What was worse, there are "Blackflies", the insects named "Buyu" in Japan. So, considering the circumstances mentioned above, when you go to New Zealand, you take care about "Sndflies( Blackflies)!!

Anyway, I found a moving image about "fear for Sandfly", so watch this moving image please. It was scary noise, right?

By the way, Insects in New Zealand arebasically gigantic. For example, this is a "stic insect" in New Zealand. The other party, this is a "stick insect" in Japan.

Theme of NUFS Festival

At first, I'll tell you about the Theme of Joint Festival (NUFS Festival). It faces the 13th times in this time. I heard, the theme of Joint Festival is "Best Shot". It means that spectators come to this festival and participate in many refreshment booths, the games, events and they laugh or surprised by something and cry with their emotion. Those action leave such an individual "Best Shot" at Joint Festival and the executive committees made this theme to remain one page of spectators' memories.

Moreover, to tell the truth, “B”, a part of “Best” contains the meaning of “13” and it contains eagerness that it wants to make up the 13th Joint Festival can do only. This is the "Hidden Meaning".

UenoTenjin Autumn Festival

This Autumn Festival will be held from October 23rd until 25th in Igaueno in Mie Prefecture, the place where I was born. Incidentally, Igaueno is you know, known to a town of Iga Ryu ninja. There is an Iga-Ryu Ninja Museum too. This festival has a tradition of four hundred years and I heard this autumn festival gathers many tourists for three straight days every year.

The content of this festival is carrying a solemn portable shrine and marching like a picture scroll, several hundred ogres process by the solemn portable shrine, these ogres have different faces and while people are playing the beautiful festival music, the nine brilliant Danjiriparade Ueno castle town. It seems most of ogres’masks, curtains and metal fittings of Danjiri are specified for the cultural asset in Prefecture and City. They are what is called "Country important specification and formless folk cultural asset". Among all these contents, several hundred ogres' procession is the best. And "Tottering Ogres" is the best in particular. Children fear this "Tottering Ogres" more than any other ogres because this ogres act violently and turn to a full route by the tottering step, go near some small children who is picked up by parent and make the children cry.
Lastly, if you click here, you can see some photos about this festival.
